Our Mission

At A Safe Space for Self-Injury Support, our mission is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment for individuals affected by self-injury. We offer separate, dedicated support groups for teens and adults, ensuring that participants receive age-appropriate support and understanding.

Through our groups, we focus on fostering emotional growth, building self-esteem, and offering participants a wide variety of practical coping skills. These include art, journaling, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and other creative outlets for self-expression and emotional regulation.

Our goal is to empower individuals to:

  • Understand their triggers
  • Develop healthier responses to emotional pain
  • Strengthen their self-esteem
  • Build a supportive community that values healing, personal growth, and positive self-expression

Our Commitments:

  • Providing a wide range of tools and strategies for emotional regulation, self-care and alternative coping methods
  • Promoting resilience, hope and recovery through connection, creativity, and self-discovery
  • Supporting individuals on their journey toward self-acceptance, emotional well-being and long-term healing

About our Groups

At A Safe Space for Self-Injury Support, we offer specialized groups tailored to different age groups, providing a safe space for personal growth, emotional well-being, and skill-building.

Safe Steps for Teens

Safe Steps for Teens is a structured, ongoing weekly group aimed at empowering adolescents with skills to manage challenging emotions, particularly those tied to self-injury. In a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental setting, participants explore new coping techniques. Throughout our sessions, we cover a variety of topics, introduce alternative coping strategies, and incorporate art as a means of emotional expression.

Orientation for Teens and Parents/Guardians

Before joining, each teen and their parent or guardian will attend an orientation session with the group leader. This meeting introduces the group’s structure, addresses questions, and helps us set goals to work on in the group.

Safe Skills for Adults

Safe Skills for Adults is an ongoing weekly support group dedicated to helping adults manage self-injury and related mental health challenges. In a supportive, empathetic environment, participants work through their challenges, and develop practical life skills. Through continuous support and interactive discussions, the group fosters resilience, personal growth, and the skills needed to manage daily challenges.

Orientation for Safe Skills for Adults

Before joining the group a prospective adult will attend an orientation session with the group leader. This meeting introduces the group’s structure, addresses questions, and set goals you would like to achieve in this group.

Participation Requirements

Participation in Safe Steps for Teen is voluntary but we require anyone under the age of 18 to be under the care of a licensed clinician.

Participation in Safe Skills for Adults is voluntary but we strongly recommend being under the care of a licensed clinician.

If you would like assistance finding a licensed clinician, I can help direct you to finding someone that fits your needs.

Our Approach

Both Safe Steps and Safe Skills incorporate art, journaling, and peer discussions to support healing and growth. Our groups incorporate the practices and curriculum imploded by the S.A.F.E. ALTERNATIVES®  Program.

S.A.F.E. ALTERNATIVES® provides specialized treatment for those who self-injure and is a nationally recognized treatment approach designed to end self-injurious behavior. Please visit S.A.F.E. Alternatives website for more information
